Digital tools
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the number of AI tools launching on a seemingly daily basis. If you are going to use it, make sure you are treating it as a tool, not a replacement for the work you’re doing. Plus no one needs more AI generated fantasy scenes or AI Slop.
I found this site useful for reviewing and understanding what productivity tools are out there and how they work. Now I need to find the time to actually watch all the reviews…
Hi Stranger by Kirsten Lepore
While talking to my good friend Julie Freeman (Translating Nature), she told me about one of her favourite videos. It’s on YouTube and is Hi Stranger by Kirsten Lapore. With a running time of 2 minutes 40 seconds, it’s a short but memorable piece. OK, so this isn’t exactly new, it’s six years old, but it is amazing, amusing and accomplished.
In other words, I like it too.
I’ve just finished the audio book and really enjoyed it. Cait has done a lot in her relatively short but addicted life and has come through the other side a more content person. I love the idea of not shopping for a year for anything other than necessities (i.e. food) and I’m trying it out for myself. I have too much stuff and feel like it owns me rather than the other way around. Cait’s book is a memoir, but has lots of tips at the end to help with your own shopping detox.
Dungeness, Kent
A surprise trip to Dungeness revealed the strangest place in England. The only desert in the UK and one of the largest areas of shingle in the world. It also revealed a great snack shack and wonderful views.
We stayed at the Coastguard Lookout and ate at Snack Shack
Harwich, Essex
A recent visit to Harwich Old Town, revealed a lovely, small, historic town, with beaches, art, music, old forts and good food. The foot ferry to Felixstowe is a must.
Emma stayed at the Arts House Harwich and ate at The Alma Inn and Thai Up At the Quay.
